Marc Deligny, born in 1960, pursued his education from 1976 to 1981 at the esteemed Ecole Saint–Lambert in Paris, specializing in the "Historical Monuments" domain. Following this, he honed his skills in monument restoration and embarked on a comprehensive journey, contributing to the preservation of France's cultural heritage through his involvement in the restoration of prominent sites such as the Cathedral of Reims, the Sainte-Croix Church of Bordeaux, and Le Mans Cathedral, among others.
In 1987, Marc established his own workshop in Tusson. There, he took on the role of mentor, imparting his knowledge to apprentices in the craft of stonework. Under his guidance, they participated in various restoration endeavors, played a part in the creation and safeguarding of historical artifacts, and contributed to architectural elements and decorative ornamentation, both indoors and outdoors

"My creations are made in a traditional way. I mainly work with sandstone for its solidity and its raw appearance as a support for my inspirations. Each object is decorated with prints, engravings, shaped elements.
I use different manufacturing techniques, turning, modelling, plate, coiling.
My inspirations are borrowed from nature, my dreams and my emotions.
I like the imperfect, the incomplete which makes the object beautiful in the moment and creates a certain poetry".

Just 240m from us, lies the remains of the monastery of Tusson, the Abbaye des Dames. This was an important convent for Nuns, and was one of two buildings in the grounds. The other building was a men's priory which was governed by a prioress.
The abbey prospered until the 18th century, when it was sold as a state property under the revolution, and was turned into a stone quarry, and sadly the stone was plundered. Only the remains of the column and the beginning of the dome remain of the church of Notre Dame, which was built in the Romanesque period.
It was the creation of the Abbey by Robert d’Arbissel in 1112, that put Tusson on the map in the middle ages.
Consisting of a museum where Marguerite d'Angoulême made her dwelling, it dates from the 15th century and today houses the Heritage House.
Marguerite d'Angoulême was the daughter of Charles d'Orléans, the cousin of King Louis XII and Louise de Savoie.
Marguerite d'Angoulême – or Marguerite Valois-Angoulême – was born on April 11, 1492. A high-ranking princess, she belonged to the first Orleans branch of the Capetian dynasty. She was also the elder sister of the future King of France, King Francois 1er.
Interesting exhibitions and art installations can be found here during the year.
(100 metres from us)
The village of Tusson is ancient, and it's official!
Centuries before Stonehenge in England was built, this settlement housed the first European stone monument builders. This giant tumulus is 123 meters long.
It is the largest of a set of four aligned along a northeast/southwest axis.
This enormous funerary monument, more than 10 meters high, has never been excavated by archaeologists. It's isolated in the middle of fields and covered with trees and groves.
The Neolithic Tumuli is an amazing 6,000 years old.
The Tumuli are a short walk from Maison Dix, just 20 minutes away.
The lovely villages of Charmé, Ligné, Ébréon and Bessé can be reached easily within walking distance, if you fancy a longer walk in the day, or a short bicycle ride.
Pierre Lecat is considered to be “the watchmaker’s Cognac”.
Passion for this great craft elevated them to the rank of grand master. The art of aging and mixing their Cognacs demands the greatest attention to detail and vast know-how. Pierre Lecat’s Cognacs are created by a new generation who have combined their passion, consistency and precision with an inherited treasure of knowledge to create a work of art. The rich flavors and aromas of their Cognacs are the result of an expert construction, which is slowly developed over the years in cool dark cellars.
If you fancy something lighter, they offer a gorgeous range of Pineau des Charente, a wine specific to this region. Available in rosé (aged 5 years), white (aged 6 years) or aged white (aged 15 years).
A must see while you are in the Charente!

The pretty village of Verteuil-sur-Charente is just 15 minutes down the road from us by car, and is dominated by the impressive and imposing castle of the Rochefoucauld family, which overlooks the river. At the foot of the castle is a magnificent water mill, which is still in operation, and there is also a cafe where you can enjoy a drink by the Charente riverside.
Market day is Sunday. Get there early and enjoy fresh, locally grown seasonal fruit and vegetables from Timothée of Puybonnet. If you can't make it to see him on his stall, you can pre-order your vegetables and fruit to be delivered to the awesome cafe - Gateaux - in our village of Tusson. Visit his website to find out more. https://puybonnet.fr/
The Church of Saint-Médard, located in the heart of the village, is another notable landmark. This Romanesque church dates back to the 12th century and showcases beautiful architectural details.
Sadly the impressive chateau is not open to the public, but it has been acquired recently by a new owner, so that may change in the future?
Le Sénéchalerie bar and restaurant is a "must stop" in Verteuil. Grab a drink, and enjoy the breathtaking and simply stunning view of the Château de Verteuil from the terrace. You can enjoy live music in the spring and summer evenings. This place really does have the most beautiful view of the Château de Verteuil and is not to be missed!
Less than 40 minutes from us, the gorgeous and sprawling Jarnac, home of the world famous Cognac Courvoisier, has a lot to offer in the way of restaurants, bars and shops. Why not take a kayak in the summer months along the river Charente? You can hire them on the riverside and it's a fun way to explore the area.
Félix Courvoisier founded the famed Cognac house in 1828 in the very heart of Jarnac. Now you can follow in his footsteps during this 1h30m tour as you discover the subtle art of distillation, ageing and blending that defines the Maison Courvoisier.
Gain exclusive access to the emblematic cellar, for a unique experience steeped in history and craftsmanship while you conclude the tour with a tasting of a signature Courvoisier VS in a cocktail, VSOP and XO.
